Evolis Primacy ID Card Printer (Discontinued)
Note: This is a discontinued printer and availability is very limited.
The Evolis Primacy ID Card Printer was one of the most successful and widely deployed desktop ID card printers in the identification industry. Designed for businesses, schools, healthcare facilities, government agencies, membership organizations, and access control environments, the Primacy earned a reputation for fast print speeds, professional image quality, flexible encoding capabilities, and long-term reliability.
Using dye-sublimation and resin thermal transfer printing technology, the Evolis Primacy produced vibrant, edge-to-edge credentials at 300 dpi resolution with sharp text, clear graphics, and excellent photo reproduction. Available in both single-sided and dual-sided configurations, the printer was commonly used for employee badges, student IDs, visitor credentials, membership cards, loyalty cards, and access control credentials.
One of the key advantages of the Primacy platform was its speed and versatility. Capable of producing up to 225 full-color cards per hour and significantly higher monochrome output, the printer was ideal for organizations requiring efficient badge issuance without sacrificing print quality. Its large card hopper and straightforward operation made it suitable for both occasional and daily credential production.
The Evolis Primacy supported a broad range of credential technologies, allowing organizations to integrate identification and access control into a single card program. Available configurations included magnetic stripe encoding, contact smart card encoding, contactless smart card encoding, MIFARE®, DESFire®, HID Prox®, HID iCLASS®, and other credential technologies depending on the selected configuration.
The platform was also designed for long-term scalability. Organizations could deploy simplex models and later upgrade to duplex printing or additional encoding capabilities as credentialing requirements evolved. Optional Ethernet connectivity further enhanced flexibility for networked card issuance environments.
Although the Evolis Primacy has been discontinued and succeeded by the Evolis Primacy 2, it remains one of the most searched and widely used ID card printers in the market. Thousands of organizations continue to operate Primacy printers today and often seek additional units for expansion, replacement, backup inventory, or maintaining compatibility with existing supplies and workflows.
Professionally refurbished and open-box Evolis Primacy printers provide organizations with a cost-effective way to continue operating established credential issuance programs while benefiting from the proven reliability and performance that made the platform so successful.
